.308 Bush Gun Barrel Lenght Question.

I’ve had 18s, 19s, and agree 100% with the 20 inch barrel. 20 is my go to length for my hunting rifles

Unless most of your shots are 350 + yards and you want a longer barrel for magnum cartridges, there is lots to be said in support of 20" barrels for a general hunting rifle. They usually balance fairly well, are handy and portable and don't give up much (if any) velocity that would make a measurable difference on game. And of course for those that are hunting in bush or never shooting further than 200 or so yards, there really isn't much point to the longer barrels, unless you just happen to like them, I guess. Once you get used to using short barreled rifles it's hard to grab the 24 or 26" ones. :)

I'm not a fan of any barrel over 20"( although I gust picked up a 24" .444) . I do a lot of bushwacking, or as my frend calls it dead reckoning. Love my 16.5 .308, but the one that goes everywhere right now is in a 19" 300wsm. It gets the long stuff done to 00@300 10" low @400. As the years go on I'm going to be useing the 308 more.
