For those of you who don't know about this piece of kit, the RCBS Precision Mic, it measures the headspace or dimension from the bottom of your case to the datum line (just around the case shoulder area). I have been doing this service for over 10 years over in the Main Battle Rifle forum.

So it's time to edumacate you PR shooters of .308 (.243, 7mm-08, .260 Rem) rifles.

Just some background:

Many factory M700 Police rifles are around 0 thou or 1.630" which is ALSO the SAAMI "GO" Gauge
Many USGI M14 rifles range from 15 thousandths to 20 thou
The SAAMI NO-Go gauge is 1.634" or 4 thou above the 1.630" GO gauge
The SAAMI Field gauge is 1.637" or 7 thou above the 1.630" GO gauge

When you fire your rifle, your brass expands (what did you expect?) to fit the chamber of your rifle. You send me 3 pcs of fired brass and I email or PM back the dimensions of your .308 (or .308 family) chamber. Just good simple information to know.

And no, yer #### won't fall off! :runaway:

So if you want to git yer chamber/brass mic'ed, just send me a PM for directions. It will only cost ya a small padded envelope and a $ 1.29 stamp (or thereabouts).

I forgot to mention, I also have a .22-250 Precision Mic for the same purpose because I like to use the 68 gr Hornady and 75 gr. Amax boolits up to 800m at the ORA Precision Rifle matches hosted by RudyP (a great guy).

Cheers and peace out!

This is good service and and an important tool when FL sizing. Many shooters "knock back" the shoulder farther than necessary, thus creating excessive headspace and brass will quickly come apart at the head, about 1/4" from the base, in subsequent firings.
