308 compensator

everyone's going to tell you "you don't need a muzzle brake don't be a wuss" but most time's its not about reducing recoil but allowing yourself to spot your own shots.

Look at Alberta Tactical Rifle they make awesome brakes and are good looking to boot.

or if your muzzle is already threaded look at Coretac's offerings

Maybe OT, but I'll ask anyways.

Does the threading for a 7.62/308 Comp matter for mounting? Is it ok to use a bored out 1/2x28 AR comp?

+1 for Alberta Tactical Rifle. They will install a good looking/functional brake that is made at the time to fit you individual rifle's barrel contour, etc. for about $350. Only catch is their's is a permanent install.

It isn't the quality of the brake you need to worry about, almost all do a good job. It is the quality of the installation that is absolutely vital.

I use the Badger FTE break. The nice thing about it is that it's removable for cleaning or if you're shooting a discipline that isn't break-friendly. Uses the same threads as the Smith Vortex flash hider.
