.308 enfield barrel question

I'm not sure if this should've been posted in the gunsmithing section, so feel free to move it if that's the case.

I've got two .308 enfield barrel's, but they're slightly different-

The one in the white is stamped .308 at/on the breech and the other one that is park'd, is Canadian Arsenals made and stamped 7.62 and CA at the muzzle.

I'm not totally sure of nomenclature, so go easy on me :)

My question is why would the chamber on the barrel in the white be cut flat and the CA barrel is beveled. Is one of them not fully finished reaming yet, or is the one that's got the bevel a 'mistake'?

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Greg

Probably because someone ordered them that way? The one with bayonet lugs and flat cut would be to fit with the orginal stock configuration, keeping the original look, perhaps for a competition class that specified that?.

Did you try chambering a round in the flat one? It might be short chambered, meaning that it was expected that the gunsmith would finish with the chambered wanted and cut the bevel, which aid feeding a round.

I did try it but I'll put a round in each and take another pic tonight and post it. Hopefully that can help explain things.

In the mean time, does anybody have a DCRA rifle they could take a look at and see if their chamber looks like the park'd barrel chamber?

Thanks Guys.

I have both of those barrels as well. My DCRA barrel is just like yours on the left. The one on the right is a custom made barrel. There is a guy in ontario that makes them. Mine is identical with no markings and has the 308 stamp by the chamber.

Lol no I have another one as well. I had one for a while that is going to be a project someday after the other 10 projects are done. I put a round in mine marked 308 and it seems fine. Doesnt look like it needs anymore work before going on a receiver.

So here's the pics with a round chambered. The case sits out just a touch futher on the park'd barrel, and also has a more exposed case due to the bevel.

Would this be to aid in feeding, where the barrel in the white would be used for single shot? I have no idea what's goin' on here, and I want to be a little more educated when I take them in to get installed.

Gimme your thoughts...
