Looking for some info on loads for a 308 22 inch barrell 1 in 10 twist. Loads will be for competition. Whats the difference between 155 and 155.5 and 155 palma?

Sierra released a new 155 gr bullet they are now calling the Palma bullet. The older 155 that they did call the Palma bullet had a BC at .450. I think they changed the name to 155 HPBT. The new 155 Palma bullet is called the HPBT Palma Match King with a reported BC of .504. This will cause a little confusion for a few years until all the old 155's are gone.

If you want to try a load that I have had great luck wih in short barels, try 46.0 grains of BCL2 and 178 Amax or 175 gr SMKs.

You will find that 1:10 twist will favour this weight (175-180s) over the 155s in most cases

Yep, 46 gr of Varget is the load many long ange shooters use. I have used it with Berger VLD's, SMK, Noslers and Lapua. Bergers and Lapus use 2 minutes less elevation than Nosler's or SMK once you get to 800 yards.

I have tryed the 155gr sierra's not the new ones like Maynard had mentioned from Sierra but there match grade 155 MK. I was using a 1/12 twist Hart barreled gun, groups where okay with Varget ,IMR4064 and H 4895. but the 155gr in my gun would not give groups that the 168gr Sierra MK could do. with the above powders.sold a Rem 700 with a 1/10 twist 22" barrel that shot the 168gr in tight groups 1/2 the odd time less.
