I have a DCRA .308 Long Branch that unfortunately has had the wood, and the barrel cut down. I was originally going to replace the barrel with another DCRA take off barrel I acquired and replace the wood, but I am now thinking of keeping the matching barrel and receiver together and making something nice out of it, and using the barrel I acquired and building a replica up on another Long Branch receiver.
Sporterized Long Branch rifles are not hard to find, so receiver and bolt are not hard to find, I have the barrel, and wood+hardware can be acquired from various sources. Only thing I was wondering about is the bolt head for the .308 case. Is it a matter of simply replacing the extractor? or is the whole head different?
Anyone have any tips for doing a build like this?
Thanks.
