.308 Long Action.

One of the biggest reasons to try this journey with the 308Win is the massive amount of testing and development that has occured over the last 15yrs, specifically for FTR around the world.

anything you can dream up, has been tried, tested at a level you may not be aware of as possible. The bullets you find on the shelf today, are by products of that testing... and failures.

In all things, there are compromises AND real world limitations.... limitations that a box or spec sheet may not convey. There is so much that happens down range that the vast majority of shooters never test to any level of confidence... let alone experience. There are bullets that simply do not work wrt to ELR aerodynamics.

If you want to test and experiment, get some prefit barrels spun up for a compatible receiver and go have some fun and learn. If you want to play with the 308win, 8, 9 and 10 twists are great places to start.

The only time I have stopped a competition was when the target we were shooting at blew away.... and that was no where near 120km/h

Enjoy...

I fail to believe that the 6.5 Creedmoor is superior to the .308 Winchester casing.

In fact, I believe it is inferior.

A 276gr .338 Federal in a Nickel .338 Fed high PSi casing beats the same thing in a 156gr 6.5 Creedmoor out to 3000 yards.

Pretty sure Starline brass .338 Federal would beat it too in matching barrels....out to 3000 yards.

...not gonna pull any charts....but pretty sure.
