Has anyone tried this new rifle/ammunition?

The balistics really look good, but I wouldn't want to buy something that instantly becomes obsolete (like my computer).

Can this round be used in a regular 308 Win?

"...used in a regular 308 Win?..." Nope. It's rimmed. It was only released this past Spring. Chances are there are no rifles or ammo in Canada, yet.
Any time you think about buying something brand new, buy at least 500 cases too. Assuming you can find any. Brass cannot be brought in from the States without the export permit.

Nope, the .308 Marlin cannot be interchanged with the regular .308 Win.

Actually rifles have been in canada since the middle of summer at least. Just maybe not very many. I good friend of mine that I work with called SIR after I brought their catalog to work in early august. They said that they had 2 in stock, he didnt have his card with him so he said he would call back when he got home. 4 hours later he calls back and they have none left, so he orders it anyway plus 2 boxes of ammo. He called again yesterday to see if it was still on backorder, they said it showed up yesterday morning and they had already started the transfer process.

I dont think it should be too hard to find ammo. Surprisingly! When my friend was talking to SIR they said they had over 200 boxes in stock. And this past weekend I stopped at a couple gunshops and seen at least 4 or 5 boxes at each store. Thats not too bad for Nova Scotia. :p I also seen a few boxes at the truro gunshow. So it is around.

Give me a few weeks and maybe I'll be able to tell you how it works from experience. :50cal:

its a good cartridge and will kill deer well out to 200 yards...but unless you're hung up on having a tube magazine lever gun, get a BLR in 308
