.308 match

i have not been out blasting yet iam just getting my rig set up. Iam weighting for my rings as we speek. i will start shooting this weekend. Iam trying to only put match ammo in my gun.

The member that created this thread gave no inication what he'll be doing with the ammo. If he lives in the Toronto area, I highly doubt he'll be shooting long range anywhere.

Really, Borden is about one hour drive up the 400 from Toronto. The sad thing about shooting long range in Ontario is the long drive to the range. Borden is 4 hours drive for me but I find myself and 3 other friends there for just about all long range matches.

I would say that's a good idea. I have a customized 700P as well and would put nothing but match ammo through it. I am like you and on my way to starting to reload but am not quite there yet. I use the federal gold medal match ammo with great success. I use the 175gr. because I like to shoot the longer distances too. The 168gr. stuff works great too, but if you're going longer the 175 is a better bet. I live in Edmonton, but I pay somewhere in the ballpark of $40 per box. I'm not sure how the ammo situation is there, but I know when I see it here I usually try to buy a case if I can because it tends to go quickly. Hope that helps.

An hour isn't too bad. I thought the time would be significantly more based on heavy traffic. Glad to hear you're making an effort. It's more than some would be willing to do.

hows it going andygumpers?...if u start reloading you will save a bit of money...I too have a 700P and I shoot better with my handloads then i do with the factory match ammo...also a good thing about reloading is you can taylor your rounds to ur specific Rifle...because as u know every rifle shoot differently...at first it will cost u a bit for all the reloading gear and ur supplies but its wel worth it in the long run...if u are beginning to reload u can go too epps and they sell a LEE reloading kit for around $150.00 its a low end kit but it works everything u need to get started is in there...except the reloading supplies...anyways just thought i would let u know...and if u do start reloading try 168gr Sierra Match kings with 46.3gr Varget with CCI250 Primers and seat the bullet for a overall length of 2.925" u will only be able to load one at a time but trust me its a very accurate oad anyways thats my 2 cents have fun with ur rig and let me know how she shoots...
