.308 (NEW) Model 70

Looking to get one of these featherweight rifles from Winchester (Browning). Any thoughts, i know they are really new but people seem to know things before they even hit the market.

I shot a couple of the new Model 70s back in January and must say that I was quite impressed. Not sure when they'll be available but I think they'll do the Model 70 tradition proud.

looks like a winner, but I see they left out the 7mmWSM...the best of the short mags gets dropped...what the he11 is up with that...?

If they're of the same quality as the Featherweight I have that was made in the early 90's, I'll buy 2.

It's my guess that the 7mmWSM has very little time left on earth. Sales have been poor for this cartridge and for whatever reason, it just never caught on like the 270 and 300. My guess is that it will completely disappear in the next couple years. I think Winchester spoke volumes with the Model 70 and its exclusion.

..not that I think the 7mmWSM will do anything different than the 270 version, that would be like the old "270 vs 280" debate......I just have other 284 cartridges and I'd like to use the same bullet diameter....

Just ordered one today from work, and Browning said, I will not see it till March which may mean August. Also put one on order for a customer in .270
