308 Norma

I believe the OP is after 308 Norma Magnum ammo? that'll be a tough one, maybe gun shows, in the obsolete/obscure cartridges? would a 300WM reamer clean out the 308 NM chamber? have you searched custom reloading shops? there is one here in saskatchewan, Last Mountain Reloading, i believe he could load you a factory spec round, or as custom as you'd like to get?? do you reload? 300WM or 338WM can be formed to work for that. i was fortunate, the rifle i bought had dies and brass, and i reload, so i'm good for awhile, till i have to start forming WM brass. good luck in your search, hope some of my suggestions helped, dogger

I used to just neck up 7mm RM brass. Not much help to the OP, other than that 7mm RM brass seems readily available now, so it may be time for a new hobby.

Most actions designed for the 30-06 will ream to 308 Norma. However, the 300 WM requires a full magnum length action.

If you own a 308 Norma, pretty much a reloader prospect. Loaded ammo if you can find it is pricey, i would expect north of $80/box. Probably over $100/box. Years ago i found a box of virgin norma brass for over $60 at a local shop.

Member of the 2.5" magnum family. All use the same parent case; 264wm, 7mm RM, 308 NM, 338 WM, 358 NM, 458 WM. Brass can be resized from 338 WM, which i do not like to do. I like my ammo to be headstamped correctly.

The 308 nm can be loaded to exceed factory 300 wm, the 300 wm of course would exceed it in handloads. Pretty much a ballistic equivalent of the 300wsm. Excellent caliber, 300 mag performance with a long neck.

In your neck of the woods i would think Corlanes or Nechako sports would carry loaded ammo, probably need a bank loan. Keep your brass, look for brass/dies on the EE's, if you do not load; look for someone local that does. Maybe they can show you how, let you use their gear or load up a quantity of ammo for you.

good luck

Actually the easiest is to use .338 Win or 7mm RM cases. No trimming, no need to relocate the shoulder as it fireforms.

Trade Ex sometimes have new cases, but for now, new Norma imports are coming from the states, as there's no more any direct Canadian importer and the choice is not there.

I tried 7mm and 338, the necks do come up a bit short and need that first forming. I eventually settled on 300 win mag brass, I remove the expander ball on the first pass, trim to correct length and the reinstall the expander ball and run through one more time. Comes out to the perfect length and a perfect match, only downside is that I also picked up a 300 win mag rifle since and could possibly get the cases mixed up.
