Ok, I have a load that shoots VERY good out of my Rem 700 sps varmint. And it looks like I am going to have to change it.

I have been single feeding my rifle, But I have a coyote hunting competition in a week and a half and will be shooting the .308

Current Load
168gr A-max
over all length 2.947 (problem is it wont fit in the internal mag)
43.5 gr varget.

So my question is do you think i will over pressure seating the bullets i have loaded back .147 more? to reach an over all length of 2.800.

I am new to this whole reloading stuff so any input would appreciated

I've never tried Varget or the A-max bullets, but I imagine the only way to find out is to try. Load a handful with the new specs, you should hear if the bullet is squashing the powder, or you should be able to shake the cartridge and hear the powder moving around. If you cannot hear the powder I would assume the powder is being compressed.
I would think you should be fine, as my copy of Modern Reloading second edition says that the amounts for H-Varget would be 42 to 46 grains.

There are more experienced people who might be able to tell you something different.

As said, your load will be fine pressure wise, accuracy may change or might not, but you can seat your rounds deeper, add more powder and will still be fine.

43.5 is a good load with 168 and seating all the way back to SAAMI will be fine. IIRC 168 is good pressure wise up to 46g. As Jerry and others say a retune would be a good idea once one variable is changed but my guess is that you won't loose too much accuracy by seating at mag length even if you havent had time for a retune.
