Hello,

I'v been looking for WinUSA 308, and well, no body has it anymore, could some one shed some light on this?
Do I really have to start reloading my own???

And why is the price of ball ammo going up? The conflicts are soon to be over on the other side of the pacific, less ammo is consumed by the military, I would think they would have a surplus of this stuff ? no ?

Thank you

OK 1st metal prices are WAY up thats why ammo is up

now yes thier is LOTS of surplus ammo around the world just not in canada

our governemt in a bid to keep us all safe in this nanny state must test all ammo imported into this country its very expensive to buy millions of rnds and maybe have them turned down or worse yet the gov refuse to test it

so it goes to the U.S where thier are few restrictions on ammo and where you can easily sell several thousand cases of ammo in a very short time

Thanks for the cheering up contact148. What ammo would you recommend for semi auto in 308 ? (beneli r1) ... cheap ammo please.

well honestly if you plan on shooting a fair bit start reloading

its expensive to start out all the equipment and supplies you need to buy but buy good gear and it will outlast you!

buy your supplies in bulk for best savings

now if you want factory ammo

right now maybe marstar has the only 308 they have win white box by the case is best buy you have to call them mon to see if its actually in stock

other then that call around the local gun shops they may have .308 surplus but i think most is sold out allready

The American Eagle stuff isn't as good as the WinClean, but Wholesale actually had it in stock when I was in so that's what I bought. The 10% they had with their moving sale (Calgary) didn't hurt either :D

"...The conflicts are soon to be over..." How do you figure that? Not that it matters. No major military uses 7.62NATO for much of anything but MGs anymore. And few SAW's use it either.
"...why is the price of ball ammo going up?..." Supply and demand. Just like everything else. Plus the constant government interference.
"...What ammo..." If you don't reload, you'll have to try as many brands as you can to find the one or two your rifle will shoot well. Look at ammo with 165 grain hunting bullets. The .308 likes this bullet weight and it'll take any game with no fuss.
Reloading not only gives you a reliable ammo supply, it lets you shoot better ammo too.

Sunray, What I meant is that the major "peak" of conflicts are over, yet the price just keeps going up. I meant that as a very general statement.
Supply and demand you say eh ?. Its like saying look, one Esso refinery is out and all of the sudden, Shell and others are running out of gas, how much of that is supply & demand? or is it just pure market manipulation? or both.... look what happened in the 60, and 70s. i.e. silver was at $70 bucks ....

I know everyone has to eat, but comon .....
