.308 vs 7.62x51

Most of the old timers will tell you that before there was internet, 7.62 and .308 were one and the same. Take that for what it's worth.

7.62x51 is loaded to slightly less pressure than a modern .308. I've fired milsurp 7.62.51 in a .308 rifle with no ill effects. Some modern .308 rounds may be loaded in excess of 58kpsi pressure, which some older milsurp actions were not designed to withstand with repetetive firing.

so:

.308 in .308 :D
7.62 in .308 :D
7.62 in 7.62 :D
.308 in 7.62

note: i shoot ".308" in my old spanish m1916, which is supposedly even wimpier of an action than a "real" 7.62x51 if you read all the internet garbage. I just reload to keep pressures under 45kpsi and it's good to go!
