308 Win --> 260 Rem Neck down.

Just wondering if any one has sized 308 Win Palma brass (small rifle primer) to 260 Rem.

This would be an effort to reduce extreme spread using a small rifle primer in the 'to be sized' 260 rem case.

Any thoughts or experience appreciated.

Should work fine, necks will be a bit short until the cases stretch a bit. I've sized 308 down to 243 with no issue.

Aneal the brass first. It makes a big difference in brass life after a calaber size change.

If you don’t already have the 308 check out Alpha. They make 260 with SRP. Gary at Bighorn Sales carries it

I have SRP Lapua 6.5cm and LRP Alpha 6.5cm, but haven't done enough loading with the Alpha to have an opinion yet

Twenty years ago I picked up some Remington URBR brass which was sold for people to form the 6BR and 7BR cases from. It had a SRP and I sized it down to .260 and thought it would be the cats meow for HP silhouette. Well, the SRP created the smallest of hang fires and it was great to practice follow through and non flinching. I never shot it in a match though as it was enough of a delay that was annoying. Perhaps a different powder or primer would have solved the issue, but I never did pursue it at the time.
