Anyone here know if the more than .275 caliber restriction is applicable to the area of Glengarry at Eastern Ontario? I was invited to hunt Coyotes that has been killing my friends sheep. Can I use my 308 win?

Check the regs through the Ontario MNR, I am not sure but I think Eastern Ontario does not have that restriction but you better check to be sure. I am in Ottawa and have heard a number of coyotes around, thinking of getting a couple calls and taking the rifles out this winter to thin them out.

You are good to go, this is your only restriction:

In an area where there is an open season for deer, moose
or black bear, if you are the holder of a small game
licence you may not possess or use a rifle of greater
calibre or projectile power than a .22 calibre rim-fire rifle
chambered to .22 short, .22 long or .22 long rifle or shells
loaded with ball or with shot larger than No. 2 shot (or if
using non-toxic shot, you may not use steel shot larger
than triple BBB steel shot, or bismuth shot that is larger
than double BB bismuth shot), unless you possess a valid
licence to hunt deer, moose or black bear as the case may be
.

However, I would avoid hunting coyote with the rifle during a shotgun-only big game season, to avoid a poaching charge.

It might look bad on you if a CO shows up during a shotgun hunt, and you're dressed in camo carrying a rifle.

Forgot, you also need a Non_Resident's small-game permit, $86.47, if you do not reside in Ontario.
