I got some new lapua large primer brass for 308 Winchester this week and start to work up a load.
The bullet I'm using is Sierra 165gr gamechanger (tipped game king) seated to 2.885" COAL (to clear the magazine and ejection port reliably).
What I noticed is with the same setup on my old Remington brass, I can go as high as 45+ gr of Varget without compressing the powder. But for Lapua brass I start to get powder compression at as low as 43 grain. This is probably due to Lapua brass has lower case volume?
Do other people reduce the charge in Lapua brass to avoid compressing powder? Or is that a non issue? I'm mainly concerned with getting consistent seating depth with compressed powder. Or maybe there's a powder that does not result in compressed load in 308 Win that can still get me to ~2700fps from 20~22" barrel?
