Back when they were cheap and we had a truck full of surplus south African 308 (if I'm remembering correctly) we ran a great deal of it through some FR7 and 8 rifles. Never had an issue. But none of that 308 was hot handloads either. - danUmmm. The Spaniards aren't stupid, and their conversions were good. When I first got on CGN there was a common recurrent conversation about grievous bad horrible things about firing NATO ball in FR7s and 8s. My friend Colin did some research with the Spanish attache in Ottawa (who knew a thing or two more about guns than many might). They determined there was nothing to worry about.

Thanks! I’ll take the rifle out for some range time soonThe FR8 is a M98 copy (they got the blueprints from the Argentines) and should be fine with 308.
The FR7 is an M93 action and 308 may or may not be safe, not wanting to find out I use 300 Savage reloading data.
Back in the day my Girlfriend started crying after firing 1 shot from the FR8.
Awesome, I’ll be hitting some paper and gongs soon thenUmmm. The Spaniards aren't stupid, and their conversions were good.
