Hello,

I am not into reloading, so I would like to know, judging from your experience, which one of the commercial cartridges (150 grains) available on the Canadian Market, is giving you the best accuracy and consistency in your M-305 ?

Which one proved to be the worst and why ?

Thanks;)

Every rifle will shoot the same ammo differently. Even two identical make and model rifles. You have to try as many brands and bullet weights as you can to find the one or two your rifle shoots best.
165 grain bullets seem to give the most consistent accuracy for hunting. 168 grain match grade bullets for, well. match shooting.
Federal loads match grade ammo. Cheap they ain't and you might have trouble finding it in a shop. Most target shooters load their own to get the best accuracy in their rifle.

I've put the Winchester 150g silvertips through mine and it liked the ammo. I haven't tried any of the other commercial ammunition but maybe you should buy a box of each and try it yourself. Let the barrel cool down between strings to get the best results.

Good luck and happy shooting!

the federal vitalshok 165 grain works great... I'm sure they'd be the best hunting cartridge available.

But if your just shooting targets go with the surplus you can find

For cheap, reliable, accurate ammunition for my M-14 and M700 I like to use Winchester USA 147 gr. FMJ (BT) They sell for about $11.50/box (Le Baron's) and are superiour ballisicaly to the competition. Keep in ming I use this load for target shooting (50 yards & closer).

For long range precision shooting I would have problem spending $35.00/box and grabbing the best ammunition chambered in .308 Win. In my opinion is Federal Match 168 gr. FMJ-BT or MatchLR (Long rang) 175 gr. FMJ-BT used by the USMC / ARMY snipers.
