What's this, a .308 can kill a bear?

If I knew this I would have bought one instead of my 30.06.


I thought moose and bear calibers started with the 30.06 and went up from there. :D :runaway:

the top one is a .30-06 thread but everything still applies. without rehashing the old .308 vs .30-06 argument theyre pretty much the same except that the .30-06 can handle slightly heavier bullets.

Says who? You mean to say that there is a .308 bullet that the 30-06 can push out the barrel and the .308 can not?:slap:
 
Far, far better to go with a "lighter" cartridge and get proficient than to go with a walloping big magnum that you will want to avoid shooting in the off season.

When the 250-3000 was introduced, it was considered a premier ELK load. The critical factor is that the BULLET must deliver damage to the correct spot. If you build a big enough sling shot, you can probably knock down any moose or bear that walks.
