Just curious if anyone is shooting a 30br? I'm looking to build one on a tikka action. Not to compete, just for fun as I love anything BR. Wondering about preferred barrel length. I'm leaning to a 1:17 twist. Preferred bullets that are available up here? I've already read the article on 6mmbr.com so I was just looking for some first hand information from shooters. Thanks.

This is what i was recommended for shooting competition, shorten to 23 inches, Krieger Barrel - 30 Caliber - 1-18 Twist - #17 Heavy Varmint - @ 31" - 1.250 x .900 - 4 Groove - 300

I have several 30BR barrels. I’d have to check, but I think I have them for Barnard S / SM actions as well as on a Stiller Predator action that I have used during deer season. Bottom line is that they all shoot well. 17 twist is good. 100M 5 shot groups agg’d mid 3’s in the only pic I could find.

I just finished building one using a JC pre-fit 1 in 17 twist barrel. It is on a single shot Ultimatum action, Sightron scope and McMillan stock. One of the most accurate rifles I have ever owned and still playing developing loads. Very fun rifle to shoot. I make 115 grain bullets for it.

Nice. That's who I was going to get to do this barrel. What powder are you running? What was your process to neck up your brass? What's your barrel length? Did you get it cut for a muzzle brake? Appreciate the info

So far H4198. Haven't tried anything else. I used Peterson 7mm BR brass and it was simple neck up and fireform. Barrel length is 24" with no muzzle brake because I want it simply for a benchrest rifle.

Seems h4198 and n130 are the go to powders. That was the length I was thinking of as well. Maybe a 22". Where did you source the 7br brass? I tried necking up a couple pieces of 6br brass last night and it was a bit finicky

I bought a bunch from Jerry at Mystic Precision. He is on this site and is great to deal with. However, Peterson only runs the stuff from time to time apparently.
