Is there such a thing? I want to reload my mosin for large game and like the performance of my buddies v-max bullets. Where can I find something like that?

no...

although you could try loading the .308" 110 gr Vmax and hope it shoots ok. they are for varmints, not big game

Yea I got this thing shooting 3/4 @ 100 with sierras and I don't really want to screw that up.

Is there any other kind of force multiplier bullet out there that I can use in.311?

Any bonded core premium bullet for the .303 brit should work well.

Here is the facts.
Short of paying an over exuberant amount of money on Woodleighs(Australia) or trying some custom made pills for the 303 there are no super guchi ultra permium bullets out there.
The toughest bullets are probably the Hornady offerings with there Interlock ring, next is probably the Speer offerings and most likely then the Sierra offerings, although Sierra's bullets are my choice because they are built so consistantly.
There is no call for a ultra tough, super bonded, this, that, or the other thing, for the typical cartridges that fire .311" bullets, you have no hope of reaching 3000fps safely, let alone 2800fps.
Shoot what your rifle likes and go from there.

I belive there is either an sst or vmax in .310" But only 123 or 125 grains. I have only seen them listed by one US company(forget the company). There were a few on sksboards.com that were loading them.

I use plain hornady .312" 150 grain soft points. Expansion is great! I definately wouldn't use V max bullets for anything larger than coyotes. Stick to a quality soft point, What bullet from sierra are you using?

"....308's don't group well at all in my mosin..." That's because it's the wrong bullet diameter. Use a .311" bullet.
Like todbartell says, Hornady V-Max bullets are made for varmints not large game. Varmint bullets are designed to rapidly expand upon hitting light skinned beasties. Larger game requires a bullet that penetrates with controlled expansion. Fortunately, there are lots of good bullets in .310", .311" and .312" diameter that are suitable for deer/bear/moose.

.311 Bullets

When I saw this thread I looked in my bullet cache and found the following hiding there;

Speer Grand Slam 200gr .311 (Special run by Speer in the early 90's)
Norma 216gr round nose .311 (Probably from the 60's)
HT 180gr .311 (similar to Barnes X-bullets - company no longer in business)

The Grand Slams and HT bullets are accurate and perform very well on large game. Never tried the Norma ???? I have 200 Norma, 200 HT and 150 Grand Slams. Send PM if you need some.

The problem I see is when you get that #####in load for your 303 or Nagant, with these now discontinued slugs, and then you run out of them?
They are not available anymore, so what's a guy to do?
Guess that is a real head scratcher.
But damn how did I miss those limited run Grand Slams, I'd have bought the whole shipment, but then again I was 27 and about as broke as a 27yr. old could get.
I guess the 150 Sierra's will just have to keep killing things.
Time to move on
