Been playing around with lead casting. Built some 316 Dia. 205grn checked and cupped pills today. Anyone have a good recipe for loading ? Just looking to punch paper but my pills came up heaver than expected. Oh this is for a 303 .

Make sure that your chamber neck is loose enough to release a .316 seated bullet. 2 friends blew there rifles cuz of this. My martini enfield readily accepts a .315 bullet in chamber, but I probably need .316-7(no mold). Lyman cast bullet book suggests 10 to 13 grain of unique(other powder choices also shotgun type=caution re x2 loads).

If your rifle chambers those big ol slugs, try 18-20 gr of IMR SR4759, nice low pressure load with great accuracy in my testing.

They will chamber. Plenty of room lol. Just can't seem to find much load data on 205 grn cast. Thanks for the input.

Picked it up in a box of firearm related stuff at a farm auction years ago. Its a lyman mould but can't make out the numbers on it

You could use any 200gr data as well. There is lots of data for the Lyman 314299 mould which is a 200gr GC'ed .314" bullet.

I recently shot some 200gr .314" cast through my No.1 Mk.3 over 18gr of H4198 and they performed as accurately as jacketed.
Unique loads of 11, 12, and 13gr tumbled out of my rifle.
Loads of 18, 21, and 24gr of SR4759 did the same thing.

I have a heavily shot out bore in my rifle though so if the velocity is below a certain level or above a certain level cast bullets tumble. I need to chrony the Unique and SR4759 loads to see which way they are. My bore slugs .315" and anything under .313" cast tumbled. Anything under .311" jacketed tumbles. The mould was ordered for my P14 which slugs .313"; I just decided to try it in my Enfield for fun. I actually haven't tried them in my P14 yet :(

If anyone wants custom moulds made I highly recommend accuratemolds.com

They can make any bullet mould from .300" and up. It's $75 for a custom aluminum mould which is pretty damn hard to beat. Shipping to Canada is also a whole $5. I ordered a copy of the Lyman 314299 from them and they come out .3140" to .3145" with the alloy I selected in the checkout. They will custom cut the same mould down to .300" and up to .319"; you just need to put it in when you go through the checkout. I found out about them from the cast boolit forums and they are my current go-to source for any out of the ordinary moulds. They are also the ones I bought my 900gr .730" full bore 12ga slug mould from. They have a 1-3 week lead time as they cut each mould to order instead of keeping a stockpile.
