I acquired a remington model 25 pump recently.
final got to the range to check it out with factory amo from my local gun shop.
I was surprised they had it.
I shot 5 rounds at 25m , the old timer was dead on, tried it out at 100m target next.
Well it took 5 shots to figure out that bullet are droping about 14".
Is that the norm for 32-20 ?
Other than that its a fun gun to shoot, the patent dates on barrel are 1909 and 1910.

Hey Leonard,
From the little reading I did they are darn close to shooting a 22RF, just a little more smack.:)

Any chance the sights have been changed? The originals on the old remmys seem to have often been changed out, maybe a taller front bead or post was added to get rid of their very short tiny bead. Just a thought.....

I might be able to help with DOM of your rifle as well if you like.

Thanks for imput guys.
I didn,t have any problem getting it to hit target, rear sight is ajustable.
It just surprised me how poor performance is for 1"1/4" long brass.
Thats why you don,t see to many rifles chambered in 32-20 I guess.
Ive been told they where primarily revolver rounds.

info of a factory load 100g (in by book) should be around 1278 fps

bc around .175

i would say its shooting real low

Going with this data, assuming that is what it would be in your rifle you'd be looking at this:
Range: Muzzle 25yd 50yd 75yd 100yd 150yd 200yd
Trajectory: (25 yd. zero) -0.8 0.0 -0.7 -3.0 -7.0 -21.0 -43.6

I'd suspect your was much slower than that. Go play on the external ballistic calculator @hornady.com to figure your other loads.;)

Sight it in for 75 yards and then check it for group size and bullet drop at 100yds. My Lyman manual shows 100 gr jacketed bullets at 1984 fps [max loads] so maybe you are shooting light handgun ammo. Don't give up on it yet. PS: I have the same rifle....wTc

32-20 loads

I have a number of rifles and revolvers chambered in 32-20(Iknow,I know, I bad pussy cat), have a couple of the model 25 Remington in that caliber, it is a moderate to weak action for that cartridge, and a diet of high speed ammo will loosen it up in short order.
It's a great 75 metre small game rifle, with loads in the 1200 TO 1400 fps area, my model 25's will put every round, 115 grn cast, over suitable powders, into a Timmy,s coffee cup lid at that distance, enjoy it,and treat her right,it'll be a great companion. Regards Bully
