so i have snuck my great grandfathers old marlin 1893 out of my dads safe (getting a gunsmith to go over it and prove it safe to fire to take it back for x-mas) it turns out it needs a firing pin which im trying to track down but i would like to give it back to him with a box or two of ammo. any one know where i can find 32-40? i dont reload and while i have been playing with the idea for a while it would be nice to find some ready to go ammo.

Very nice of you to do all that... What a great Christmas present.

If the gunsmith is worthy, hes all over the firing pin issue and you should be on the EE ammo section to find 32-40 or maybe order some from a local dealer if possible. Best of luck.. :)

very scarce to find ready to go ammo. i have a set of dies that i no longer need if you decide to reload. Brass can be made using the ever plentiful 30-30 brass.

With 1 exception firearms manufacturers haven't sold a gun chambered in .32-40 since 1940. Good luck at finding the ammo. If you can find John Wayne Commemorative ammo at a gunshow, don't be surprised that it will cost a pretty penny! Most of us that shoot .32-40 reload it, even brass can be difficult to find at time.
