Anyone still use the old 32-40wcf? I came across a set of lee dies that look brand new. The seater die is marked 32 win while the fl die is marked 32-40wcf as is the load info contained within the box. I've used a 32 special before and I was curious how the 2 compare in the real world and if anyone still uses the straight case

I use them in a number of single shot target rifles. With cast lead bullets they can be extremely accurate.
This is a 10 shot group at 200m. To be competitive you need to be well under a minute of angle @ 200 with these rifles. I'm not that good at benchrest, but those who are can do it quite regularly with these guns.
The 3 flyers on the right are probably due to not having wind flags out.

Reasonably common in the black powder cartridge events. Also a fair number of lever guns such as Marlin 93's around.

I have 2. A savage 99 takedown and a marlin 93. The savage is quite accurate and shoots jacketed and lead bullets well. The marlin is a nice octagonal pistol grip 26 inch rifle. The bore is too rotten to shoot well and I don't know what to do with it. I was surprised to be getting over 1800 fps out of the savage barrel with I think it's 32 grains 748. 170 gr. Bullet. But 32 cal jacketed bullets are hard to find. I make my brass out of 38 55 short brass after heating them with a torch they turn out just the right length. The case is not straight it has a strong taper

I love the 32-40 Win. Such a pleasant cartridge to load for & shoot. Very accurate from good barrels using plain base cast boolits.
This one I did up has served me well for plinkin' and pest critter removal. Shoots fine out to 200 yds on rabbits and such with a good read on the wind.

Thanks. I'm not sure of any factory bolt guns made over the years, but I can say fer sure that there have been double rifles from UK that were made yrs back.
The Lee Enfield action be me favorite to work on and to plink & hunt with next to Winchester model 92's & 94's.

It seems my marlin 32 40 shoots subsonic 170 gr. Lead bullets quite well. 6.5 grains of tinstar powder will drive the bullet right through an 8 inch jackpine log. I tried this years ago with my 44 40 at similar speed, and got 5 inches of penetration with a 200 gr. Bullet in a jackpine log
