My uncle has a very nice pump action rifle that uses this caliber but we can't find ammunition or reloading gear.

He has tried the 32 Winchester (on the advice of the salesperson) but it didn't work.

Where could we find some ammo or reloading dies?

I don't know where to get ammo or dies, but one thing I do know - don't take advice from that salesperson again.

X2!:runaway:

Talk to Andrew at Higginsons. He should be able to get the brass for you and reload dies. Great service too. He will get alot of my buisness in the future for sure.;)

I have been searching high and low for a 25 Remington in the same gun but I almost always find the 32's. There must be a good source for components still too. You might try the remington society forum too. Responses are slower than mollasses but it might help if Andrew cannot.

Perhaps Ellwoods to but they were double the price of Higginsons for my dies.

FWIW,
Noel

Neither the .25 nor .32 Remington are made anymore. If you can't find brass, get a copy of Cartridge Conversions. It tells you what existing cartridge can be used to make either and how to do it.
Old Western Scrounger usually has both, which means Epp's can get it. Any time you play with discontinued/obsolete cartridges, it's going to cost more.

Whoops I misread that!

32 Rem Special would be the same and just 32 Rem.
Just be sure it is not Remington brand brass saying 32WCF.

It will be obvious as the 32 Rem is a rimless case.

Hope this helps.

How do I find these people? Are they listed on the forum or do they have shops?

I'm not familiar with this rifle my uncle was just asking since I reload and he doesn't.

Caster, just google Higginson powder and it will come right up for you, same with Elwood Epps. Because they are not supporting sponsers of this forum I am forbidden to post links.

They are both stores in Ontario.;)

Hope this helps,
Noel

I think you mean the 32 Remington, as I've never heard of a 32 Remington Special.
As said above, you need 32 Remington Shell holder, and 32 Winchester Special Dies. 32 Winchester Special data works fine.
The 32 Remington, is just a rimless version of the 32 Winchester Special.
Ballistics are identical.
You should be able to source the dies at any decent gun shop.

I understand you need a different shell holder but without a rim how is it held?

Walls on the shell holder, a hole in the stop instead of a slide in hole on the side?

I'm getting quite interested in this now.

And why no rim? Benefits?

It still has a rim, it is just the same diameter or a few thou bigger than the head of the case. A claw still grabs the case rim to yank it out of the chamber.

Benefits..... most rimless are designed for higher pressure although not so much the situation here. Just a way Remington found to compete agains Winchester and Marlin without building another lever action rifle and using another rimmed case.

The rimmed cases can be a pain in a stacked mag like a Lee Enfield. If one doesn't know how to charge them up and gets a rim behind the the rim of the cartridge below inthe mag you are set up for a lovely jam.

Hi Rich!

Sadly no. I found one carbine but I wanted to get the rifle model(longer barrel). There is another one I found but the bore is gone. I looked into relining it but I would have a beater $600+ plus when I was done.

I happened to be talking to Ron Smith on Friday and he has one in his safe. I was all excited. Turned out to have a bubba as the previous owner who made a plank butt stock and d&t'd the reciever six times. Argh!

Noel is sad, Noel wanted to shoot his Muley doe with one this fall.:(

You don't by chance have a spare one lurking in the corner?:) Sure would be nice to get one to play with.

Noel
