I've been somewhat intrigued with the little Hopkins and Allen style 32 RF revolvers for the past little while. I recently examined some that were for sale and most had timing and lock up issues to varying degrees. How difficult is it to have these little revolvers tuned and repaired or is it better to just pay more for a better peice? Any good sources for these in Canada or should I just go with Gunbroker.com in the States?

There's really not a lot to a SA hopkins and allen.... I've done some minor repair work to several of mine including welding. They are cheap to work with and simple to fix but sometimes hard to justify on an old revolver with little collector value.... Timing and lock up are usually simple fixes as long as the cylinder is in good shape. Most have seized cylinder pins but I'm currently working to build a set of guides and fixtures to repair that. I have several for sale if you're still interested....

the best way to know an iron is to take it apart and put it back together...
I find that fixin them makes the first firing even more enjoyable...
making a mushy action pronounce lockup with authority is a thing of beauty...
a sense of accomplishment if you will...
most folks likely want something they DON'T have to work on...

"...go with Gunbroker.com in the States?..." Customs will likely seize any .32 calibre revolver. They're being allowed to make up their own rules.

I'll second that. Spend more up front and get a good one.
Customs won't seize .32 rimfire if you have the antique status letter shipped in the same box. I would expect them to seize any handgun without the letter. They don't know crap, and they aren't interested in learning - you need to make it as easy as you can for them.
