I was cleaning out dads stuff and came across what I’m told is 32 Rimfire short ammo 9 rounds. I was told it’s very rare they stop making them in the 1920s. Can anyone help me out on this and value.
Thanks Adam

Most won't fire. I wouldn't touch this with a long pole.

It is not rare, I have a few here but won't sell them because unless it is new Navy Arms, they are garbage. People are asking between 150 and 250 for a box of 50.

Yep.
$3 to $4 a round. Much of it wont fire.
There is a void in the market for someone if they specialized in making obsolete rimfire ammo. 25, 32, 38, 41 etc.

well If I could find reasonable priced bullets I would shoot my 25RF and the 32RF I have

Looking at making them both CF and using 22Hornet brass for the 25RF and 32-20 brass for the 32RF

need to find some 25cal casting molds

old ammo

I shoot all my .25 Stevens rf & .32 rf rifles with original
old ammo which I can find , never rebarreled an old gun.

Some of the old ammo doesn't fire some fires
weakly , just chamber it a find out.

The .32 rf short & long are $4 to $6 the
.25 rf is $3 to $4 for shooters .

Pristine collectors boxes of 50 can go for $350 to $400 .

If it looks like this pic it may not shoot.

...skwerl

Back before it was crazy price ,I had a few boxes of 25 and 32, long and shorts, it was nice shinny Dominion stuff. Failure rate was about 30-50%.
Maybe real old crusty stuff would have been better?

A guy who has lots of it stored away and shoot it says the shells stored bullet down usually fire and the ones stored bullet up don't so he uses the one and sells off the other when he has a whole box of them .

I've not tried making .32 Colt/RF from .32-20; but making it from .32 S&W is easy once you're set up - .32-20 IIRC is much larger at the base than .32 S&W, so it will require more work (I would think - I'm always open to correction). Once they are at .32 Colt/RF dimension, it's the same process to set them up for a .22 blank or a Hilti (I've done both).

I've posted somewhere what I do to create the .32 Colts from .32 S&W, if you're interested PM me and I can give you the Coles Notes. If you have a lathe, it's VERY straightforward - if you don't you can work through it, but it'll be more challenging.

I have a mold for my .25 RF (now centerfire) - I can find that number as well. Important to SLUG YOUR BARREL mine was a lot larger bore than spec.

Yes I would be reaming the 32 chamber out, I've read up on making 32 long colt from 32 S&W, but If I'm doing work I figure I might as well take the time to make the chamber fit brass that is easier to find. I also use 32-20 to make brass for my Martini, 310 Cadet so I have some on hand.

Yes I need to slug the 25Cal bore but a quick look at it seems to indicate that its not .257" But the brass rod I use for slugging bores is a 1/4" brass rod so its not going to work and I need to buy a 3/8" rod

I hear ya. I have done .32 S&W in one so far and the convenience factor is there. It won't be the last, I'm sure.
