32 S&W is my ammo just Old or junk?

I picked up a hand full of 32 S&W the other day for a friend who is always looking for some. Any way long story short it was rough looking so a tossed them in my tumbler for a few minutes to clean them up some.
What i found when removing them was one had the bullet fall out but the powder stayed?
Would this be from age? moisture? Any chance it will still go bang???
Good or bad either way is fine since he reloads and can just tear them down, but im just curious.

It is black powder, and is totally compressed in the case. Pulled 4 more tonight that were duds included in my purchase. One more was totally packed in the same way but the others just poured out.
All other rounds are in much better shape.
Ill leave the shooting them to my friend!!! I prefer newer ammo my self...
