.32 S+W short .32 short colt

32 S&W has a larger diameter than the 32 colt
I bought some 32 S&W rounds from a gun show once i didn't realize it had some 32 colts mixed in.
they fired but the cases all split.
32 acp can be fired in a 32 S&W revolver.

Good info.. Thank you very much. Friend has a old revolver in .32 and he can't tell which ammo it takes. It is not marked. Old over Johnson break action.
Any idea?
I guess I will try S&W for fit first since I have them...

Hi some of them old Iver Johnsons were blackpowder guns so be careful shooting them yes they shoot 32 S&W cartridge not the longs..the short little guys...If it has the Owl grips and the Owl looking toward the barrel its blackpowder gun.If its looking away from the barrel its the newer version with the heavier frame then you can shoot regular 32 S&W shorts through them with no ill affects...

Do NOT shoot 32 ACP in a 32 Revolver. The 32 ACP has a much higher chamber pressure. Saw a mint Iver Johnson with a cracked cylinder wall from fireing 32 ACP.

FYI: I have a hard cover book on Pistol Cartridges and it lists over 20 different 32 calibres. Some of them have 4 and 5 different names for basicaly the same cartdridge. My point is this.....can be very confusing. Cheers

that's true...old cartridges can be confusing
i usually look at the charts on the net, sometimes its just good to ask then make an educated decision on things.
just found out 8mm french is .323dia bullet. i have seen and bought .330 lead and fired in my gun. How does that work? is it right?
