320 X Five Legion in IPSC

I just got one and it’s 3.4lb measured from the bottom of the trigger. Felt recoil is on par or even better than shadow 2 but it’s personal.

Considering the higher bore axis of the Sig thats impressive.

My regular P320 definitely feels snappier than my Shadow 2

What does the high bore axis have to do with felt recoil? The slide hits the slide stop not the chamber face upon recoil. Last time I looked the slide stop on my Sigs is no more higher on my gun than my CZ's. If you do some searching there are articles on the physics involved. In you example the difference in felt recoil which you refer to is "snappier" lies with the fact your Shadow2 weighs 47+oz empty and well over 50 when fully loaded while your P320 only weighs 29.4oz. Physics.

If I could find the article, that really went into the physics involved I would post it. The conclusion I came away from reading the article, with a High School knowledge of physics, was Marketing Departments found it easier to talk about High or Low Bore axis in coming up with features of a pistol than it was to explain the physics involved with the comparative advantages of having more or less mass. The second was the height of the bore had little to do with how much recoil you felt or how much "snap" one gun had over another. The author had a PHD in physics and, oddly enough loved to shoot as well. Find someone with a physics degree and who also has studied the firing of a firearm and he or she can explain it all much better than I. Mass was one of the issues involved but not the only one. I find I now I just ask myself do I like the looks of the gun and does the colour of the grips match my shirt I am wearing....just kidding. I wear a tan vest so the colour of the grips doesn't matter. :>).

I was having trouble deciding between the Legion and S2 so I bought both, put all the CGW trigger parts in the S2 and put a greyguns trigger in the legion. Did one combined range session with both guns, then each got its own range session, then I followed up with another combined range session and came to the conclusion I like the way the Sig shoots and feels for me, part of this could be that I have really big hands and the S2 even with large grips still felt cramped getting on the trigger.

I really wanted to like the S2 better as its a really well made gun and I love hammer fired guns but when it came to shooting them the Legion just worked for me.

The only place I had a edge with the S2 was with really tight shots(8" steel at 40yds) due to the nicer trigger and while I do that in practice regularly its not as common in a match.

So the Legion Greyguns striker trigger is even nicer than the CGW single action on the Shadow 2?! Where'd you find the Greyguns Trigger for the P320?

Excellent review BTW

Sorry, that was a typo, I’ll go fix it, the CGW CZ trigger was quite a bit better but not 1911 nice like I’ve heard claimed.

Ok, no worries, sounds like I need to get my hands on a 1911!

I've had an itch for a 1911 / 2011 for a while but I cant bring myself to get spendy on a nice one while the Turd Reich is at the controls.
