i have both scopes the bushnell 4200 [2.5 - 10 x 40 mm ] on my a-bolt .and a 3200 [3 -10 x 40 mm ] on my t/c encore .. for some reason i like my 3200 more than the 4200 , the 3200 is shorter , just as clear , cheaper in price and has the eye focus that is easy to adjust ..am i the only one that has noticed that there is no difference between the 2 scopes ??? now i need to get the new savage weather warrior 16fcss .243 cal. accutrigger and accustock [looks like a great rifle ????? ]

When the 3000s first came out I "discovered" the same thing. After congratulateing myself on being hands down the smartest person in the universe, I bought a pile of them and took them home and broke the #### out of them. Then I broke the 4000/4200 series scopes that inspired the whole thing, just to make sure.:(

Human nature gravitates to a bargain. We really want to believe that we can have something just as good for half the price. Maybe you will be the guy that makes that happen. We have been waiting for the "Chosen one" to lead us to the path of first class scopes for bargain prices.

Scopes are sold for what the market will stand. Period.
 
higher end scopes are supposed to withstand more recoil than lower end ones. To what extent... don't really know.
My 4200 still works after at least 1000 stout 30-06 loads. Yet is was kicked out of alignment after some careless lady pushed the rifle out of the rack on a concrete floor.

Biggest difference I found was when I had a cow moose (no tag) grazing about 125-150yards for about 30 minutes. Unloaded gun pulled up on it and watched it through my 4200 2.5-10x40 for about 20 mins. Could see so much detail on the animal.
 
Technically, the 3200 series will pass about 91% of light, while the 4200 series will pass about 95%. "Multicoated" vs "Fully Multicoated" lenses.

Also, aside from the 3x9x40 in both series, the 4200 scopes offer 4x magnification (f'rinstance, 4x16) , while the 3200 are 3x (like 5x15).

The 3200 is a good scope for the buck, but the 4200 definitely is superior...indeed, IMHO, rivaling Leupold VX-III and the like.
