325 win short

My buddy has one. I shot it for the first time this weekend. It's pretty decent. His is in a Win 70. He was testing different loads and was getting approx 2 inch to sub MOA groups at 100 yards. My group had 2 touching and one about 2 inches out. Recoil was more of a push with hot loads compared to my 7mm RM. He may pipe up with more info as he's a member as well. I sure like it!

.325wsm gets 100fps greater velocity with simmilar weight bullets vs. the .338-06. it;s just shy of the .338win mag in speeds as well.
as the .338-06 and .338win mag are tried and true big game rounds I'm sure the .325wsm will be a very good cartridge for North American big game. purely speculative as I have noever shot one, just looking at #'s.

I wonder what the numbers look like compared to the 350 Rem Mag, say with a 225 grainer..or do they make a 225 grain .323" bullet?..I've always thought the WSM necked to .35 would be great, it's actually quite popular, some call it the 35 Samber..maybe it's too close to the 325 WSM to really make a difference?

I've got a 325WSM in a Win M70 Super Shadow. Recoil isn't a problem at all. It is more of a stiff push than anything and this is a light weight rifle. I have the exact same rifle in 270WSM and while it is a stronger push it isn't as snappy as the 270WSM. I was out shooting a couple weeks ago in just a t-shirt and I was a little tender after 20 rounds of the 200gr loads, but not in anyway uncomfortable yet. Just last week I was out with a shirt and sweater and shot off about 20rds of both 200 and 220gr max loads and had no issues. Can't shoot much more than that because with the thin barrel and larger bore it heats up pretty quick. So I just shoot some other rifles that are on hand and check the targets etc while it cools off. I'm getting consistant sub moa groups with 150gr Hornady's which I used to break it in and punch paper with. Shoots 200gr Speers awful 2"-4", but shoots the 220gr Sierra GKBT's sub-moa as well. Bought this as my dedicatd moose/elk gun and it fits the bill very nicely.
Somebody has probably already said this but the ".325WSM" is actually .323 caliber... it's an 8mm.
I think we all should be buying as many guns as possible and this one looks like it will be a good caliber, but it may not catch on. Time will tell.

So far I've tried Hornady 150's, Speer 200's and Sierra 220's. Finding that
H4831 is grouping the best so far, but I want to give some Ramshot Hunter a try as well. Only tried one other powder and that was H414 with the 200's, which it didn't like to much. Haven't shot it over a chrony yet, but I don't think you will be able to match the 2800 and change that Winchester is advertising for the 220's. More likely to get around 2750fps. From what I've read so far the 180's and 200's are getting their advertised velocities.

That's fair, but since all guns are different you have to admit only the Chrony deals with fact. Anything else is conjecture. That's like my buddy with 162gr 7mmRM ammo thinking it was 3,000fps and the Chrony proved it was sub 2800 fps.
