added the win m70 super shdw to my collection(wife says arsenal) last year after some lengthy research. some told me I was nuts.never hang on to it .after breakin don't find the kick that rude.considering weight(6 .8lbs). love the way it shoots.wonder what others think?:dancingbanana:

power between the .338-06 and .338 win mag, with far less bullet and rifle choices. I also detest braked firearm nearly as much as a kick int he nuts.

in short, .325wsm not for me.

I dont think he put a brake on it, I think it broke it in

325wsm is a neat cartridge but I think necking it up to 338 would of made it even neater, despite what speeds it would create with heavy bullets

bite your tongue phib! real b.c. boys don't use brakes.I actually was lokking at a 338 wm when I ran across the 325 wsm at a gun show. In researching I found claims of equal knockdown power with less recoil and better trajectory than a 338.So I thought i'ld try It out .as far as bullet choice factory loads in 180-200-220 but its an 8mm bullet so the options aren't that bad.

bite my tounge? look what you wrote! now since the spelling and or syntax is all fuct up, what should I assume you meant?

after breaking in

after breaking ?

my bad phib, not an english major or a secretary. but I wouldn't throw stones looking at your spelling, did you mess up tongue or is that lounge with a"T".lol!

I agree - the 325 WSM is the best factory WSM yet I think. This is because it is the largest bore yet of the family.

However, the 325WSM shoulda been called the 315 WSM as it is really only .015" larger than the 300 WSM. Some kind of marketing inflationary trend I guess - trying to make it seem larger than it really is perhaps - or maybe a spelling or syntax error that was never caught? :D Also all the pseudo technical explanations as to why the short fat case folded up and died gasping for air when necked up to 338 and above is not to be believed I think.

My fav is the 350 WSM which is honestly named and an even more ballistically signicant .050" larger bore than the 300 WSM. My initial testing of the 350 WSM suggests it responds well with ReL15 and cases are easily made from either 300 WSMs or 325 WSMs - my first results here - http://www.35cal.com/ruger77_350wsm.html

My guess is that they called it .325WSM beasue the bulelt diameter is .323 and they wanted another number in there for cool factor....

Maybe so. But being consistent - not normal procedure I know when naming new cartridges - the one that fires a .308 bullet should have been named the 310 WSM so it could have the same "cool factor". Where the 325 WSM is concerned, the "cool factor" is also a "fudge factor" as it misleads many unconsciously to think that the round's much larger than the 300 version than it is in real terms. It adds another undeserved .010" by reason of it's nomenclature alone.

Just my ramblings though.

Wow, you put alot of thought into bullet diameter and names for cartridges...

I generally just pull out the calipers and measure the bullet diameter.:p :p

Yeh - a little - and I've hardly got started. Bullet diameter is interesting but wait til I get going on the "area" of a bullet base. Mathematically and ballistically very significant - as every mother's son knows.:D Time well wasted - perhaps???

whelen b, isn't the 325 actually .323 or 8mm.,not really sure what to think of the sectional density explanation of the 338 bullet in the 300wsm case.but I like this gun.

I have a friend with one and it's cool but my 338WM with 225 accubonds at 2950fps and an inch or better at 100 yards is definately flatter shooting and as accurate or better.
not sure about your research but my tables showed 325 and 338 both loaded with 200 gr and zeroed at 200yrds the 338 dropped almost 13 in at 300and the 325 dropped 6.4 in velocity and energy virtually equal.:D

So you are going to try to find some relation between the area of a bullet base and the name of a cartridge.

Seems liek an excellent use of time to me.

I've got the Super Shadow as well, in both 270 and 325WSM. For the price the accuracy I'm getting is hard to beat. Shoots 150gr plinkers into under and inch and does the same with 220gr Sierras over max charges of both H414 and H4350 with H4350 getting the nod to it being more temp insensitive.

Recoil isn't bad, but I stop after about 20 rounds or so.
