325 wsm

8mm vs .30 cal. Not much difference. Both are expensive to shoot. The .300 runs $65.95 per 20. About a buck each for Remington brass. A bit less for Winchester. The .325 runs $82.95 per 20. $44.95 per 50 for brass. 200 grain bullet in the .325. 180 in the 300.
Shooter's Choice in Waterloo lists both. If you opt for either, buy as much brass as you can afford, even if you're not reloading now. The manufacturer's think nothing of dropping cartridges with no consideration for their existing customers. Bullets, primers and powder will be there though.

I can't see them dropping the wsm's cartridges. Both would be a great choice. If it were we I would go for the 300. This is the max recoil and muzzle jump that I can handle.

Any opinions?
Yep - probably the best of all the WSM factory line up for BIG critters. A buddie has one and handloads for it and it's a hunting hammer in his hands. However it was misnamed to make it seem bigger - after the 300WSM nomenclature it shoulda been named 315WSM to be consistent - .015" bigger diameter. The 300WSM is more market centre if you don't load your own - so ammo probably will be more available for the 300 flavour - get a 300 then.

I decided to continue the trend myself to bigger WSMs since the factory wimped out. I cobbled up this one - rightly dubbed I think...

I got one in a lefty Abolt.Loaded it up with 180's for deer hunting out of a treestand that overlooked a huge beaver medow.Ended up takin a buck at about 25 yards as I was walking into my stand.
I was using a 180 nosler ballistic tip, loaded up fairly hot,too hot, as the bullet came apart inside the deer. still put it down quick.I am now loading the 200grn. accubond, but have yet to take anything with it yet ,but we managed to get a cow tag this year so hopefully we'll see what happens.
It seems to be an accurrate ,easy to handload ( not to fussy) cartridge

My A-bolt in 325 is sickly accurate. It dont matter what factory loads I put through it, and if I was smart enuff to figure out the BOSS???????
The biggest downfall of the 325 is the availability and price of ammo. I am pretty much handcuffed to what my local store has in stock, which means re-zeroing and burning through more ammo.
Once i get enuff brass reloading is going to have to be an option, I can by a great loader, dies, and bullets for what I pay for 3 or 4 boxes of shells.

I love my A-bolt. Boss system actually works..... I was sceptical on it but hey .. it works. Big bang, decent recoil... good for large game.. The ballistics like stated earliers are that and very similer to the .300 WM.... Hand loading is the way to go. it was deadly accurate with factory ammo, my handloads are fantastic. the only downside is the availability of different projectiles. I have not found a huge selection as of yet. Very good long range , large animal rifle..... Just make sure to wear ear plugs. :)

I got a Vanguard in .300WSM and I love it shoots really well, recoil is reasonable, excellent ballistics..30 cal is a great choice for hunting if you reload lots of bullet selection for deer size and moose size game.

I think the bullet disintegrating has more to do with your bullet selection than how hot it was
