Anyone have data for the 338-378 and hornady 285 bthp? Nothing on reloadersnest or some of the usual sites and I don't have a new hornady book. Just need to find a place to start with 4831 or 7828.

Nosler #7 lists 250gr projectiles with 95-99gr of H4831sc and 97-101gr of IMR7828.
It also lists 89-93gr of H4831 and 89-93gr of IMR7828SSC for 300gr projectiles.
Sorry nothing for 285's and nothing above 250gr in my Hornady #9.
Guess you need to extrapolate.

Good luck

My 1987 Speer manuel lists 75g 7828 and a 275g bullet as max and 71g as a starting load if that helps.
Start at say 70g and work up for a 285g bullet.
Whoops! that was for the 338 Winchester. 340 Weatherby starts at 84g 7828 and max at 88g.
Maybe you could use the Weatherby max as a starter load?
