I'm seriously considering getting one very soon. I was wondering what recommended loads you guys have and most importantly who you recommend can supply me with the components.

Regards,

I buy my 338 bullets from Peter Dobson (Lapua) and powder from Higginson. If you want max velocity, Hogdon US869 works well, VV N560 or N165 for accuracy. Alliant RL25 works well for accuracy also.

Strictly target shooting. I am considering an ATR prepped (and possibly rebarreled) LTR or if I can sneak it by the wife.. a 98 Bravo from Barret. I'm not too tore up on the SAKO TRG simply because for the money and the kool-aid, the Barret is only a little more.

Loads

Have played around with H1000, H870(too slow for my rig), and reloader 25.Have had great success with both H1000 and RL25. H1000 seems to work slightly better with the VLD and 300 gr SMK. As for the 250's I am currently getting .5-.7 moa with 95.5 gr RL 25, 215M primer, lapua brass, 250 SMK, OAL 3.63". Average velocity is running 3030 fps. This is out of an AI .338 LM AWSM. I would stick with Lapua brass if at all possible. You may also find that RL25 will give you added velocity over the H1000. My experience has been approx. 80- 100 fps when comparing pressure signs between the two powders.Note:this info is specific to my rifle and loads were worked up starting with manufacturers recommended load data. Hope this helps and have fun.

Boomer if you get the lapua and want to try some H1000 and 300 gr SMK I have lots of both instead of ordering a full can of powder and box of bullets

Will do... on another note.. what dies should I be using? I am running Dillon 550b but use it as a single stage with my rcbs chargemaster when I load precision rounds.

Regards,

RL-25 and Retumbo will add velocity over H-1000, but they will do it at the expense of long range accuracy.
I don't shoot anything, but 300SMk's in my long range gun.
I hear the 250 Scenar is incredibly accurate.

I have had good luck with 225Accubonds in a hunting rifle.
