.338 lapua

I've had good success with both H1000 and Retumbo. What grain / type bullet are you planning to use?

Using 94.4 gr Retumbo with 250gr Scenar or Lockbase gives me jagged one hole groups at 100m.

I'vre also had good success with H1000 under 300gr Sierra matchkings. I'm at work and can't remember the charge weight. I think it was 94 gr. I'll have to check when I get home.

I'm also using Federal 215M primers. I found that the Winchester large magnum primers did not seat properly in my Lapua brass. They were hard to seat and sat a tiny bit raised out side of the primer pocket.

I was planning to use Lapua 250 gr Scenar's. Thanks for the tip about the winchester primers, where can I source some 215M primers?

Good luck finding ANY Federal primer.

No Retumbo powder here either.

92.5gr/H1000 with the 250 Scenar or LockBase is good.

I'm using CCI Magnum but have 1000 Winchester Magnums on hand.

Further to my post above...

I am using 92.0 gr of H1000 under a 300gr Sierra Matchking. NOT 94 gr.

My preferred loads are at or near the maximum recommended powder charge. For example, the 92.0 gr of H1000 is a compressed load with the 300gr Matchking.

I worked up my loads from lighter powder charges, do not have pressure signs on my brass and am not worried about a kaboom.

Since I dont know what kind of rifle / action / barrel you have, I strongly recommend that you start with lighter powder charges (esp. if you have one of the Remington 700 actions) and work your way up checking for pressure signs as you go up. Your results may vary.

WLRM primers are fine, and are actually hotter than Federal 215's. Be sure to properly work up the load using the Winchester primers and you shouldn't have any problem with them. I use 215 match primers in my .338 Lapua, and .378 Weatherby, but have used WLRM's in them in the past with no problem. As for Federal 215 primers, I did get a few pack's at Wholesale Sports in Edmonton a couple weeks ago, but the supply of any primer has become hit and miss. Pretty much get what you can, when you can, and as much as you can. Good luck

90gr H1000, WLRM, 225 Accubonds, 2833 avg, no pressure signs
93gr H1000, WLRM, 225 Accubonds, 2988 avg, no pressure signs
96gr H1000, WLRM, 225 Accubonds, 3044 avg, no pressure signs
99gr H1000, WLRM, 225 Accubonds, 3143 avg, no pressure signs
101gr H1000, WLRM, 225 Accubonds, 3235 avg, no pressure signs, almost compressed

28.5" 1 in 10 Gaillard, Savage action, Lapua Brass

YMMV

You may also want to try RL 25 with 250 scenars, it is my go to powder for that bullet. H 1000 works well also, I use it with 215gr Gamekings for my hunting load.
