338. lapua

As I said, whichever stock is preferred. I am just not a fan of savage synthetic stocks. I think the savage is a economical (its all relative :) ) way to get into the 338 lapua.

Look into the cost and local availability of brass and/or ammo first. $79.95 per 20 for 250 grain Hornady ammo from SFRC. $6.75 per shot for Lapua brand from HS Precision.
"...overpriced junk..." Over priced for sure. Not junk though.

The upside of this is that reloading, which you generally do for LR precision anyway, really does pay when you're talking cartridges like the .338 LM :D.

in 338. its still only 1300 bucks and 9.25 pounds! i can even still walk around with it easily

This UK boy thinks this native guy is making a pretty smart decision. :D

As a slight aside, I have read that Savage strengthened the 338 action around the contact area of the bolt lugs. I'm just wondering if anyone reading this has more detail? Fact or fiction?
