Hello,

I have reviewed all the older threads on this site regarding 338 Marlin Express, but did not see much for reloading recipes for the 338 Marlin Express. Have found the walnut/blued 22" barreled 338 MX rifle, and am acquiring factory ammo and dies and Leverevolution powder right now. Need to still find some of those 200 gr FTX bullets to load.

Have found a max load online calling for 47.5gr of Leverevolution powder and the 200 gr FTX giving 2493 fps. Will try this, working up in 1/2 gr increments to max when I have some bullets, to see of I can duplicate the factory ammo performance.

Anyone have a proven load for this same rifle?
What performance are you getting?
Or in the 24" barrelled MXLR?
Or other bullet/powder combinations?

Thanks in advance!

Don't have one or a.load. Sounds like a.338-08 or 338-06, between. I would try Marlin forums, or free sites. Then maybe search for.those two oddball/wildcats. The whole.family had promise, then died when Marlin went broke. Might be the answer for a question Noone asked, again. Cartridges like.218 bee, 348, and 7-30 waters have been there done that. Rifle should.be.plenty strong.

Did you review how to check for 'barrel droop'? It was more prevalent in the 338ME's.

Over on Marlin Owners is an African hunt write up with the author's using factory ammo in a 338MXLR.

Not a lot of bullets or data for the 338ME, Hodgdon's Online Data pretty much covers it all.
