338 Winchester - 250 grain Ammo

338 ammo

I would go for accuracy with the 250's over brand name.:)
Anything you hit with those big slugs is going into the freezer. 100 fps of velocity one way or the other won't make any difference

Ya, I would suggest you use the ammo that shoots best in YOUR rifle.
What works in someone elses rifle may just shoot terribly in your rifle, so guess what. There is no pat answer, other than going to the range and test driving a few brands. and by the way the paractice finding out what works will most likely be benificial to your shooting form and chances of anchoring that big ol bruin on the first shot.

I use 69.2grs of H4831sc which is more than 2grs below max. load with a 250gr bullet. This is very accurate in my rifle, a Browning A-bolt comp stalker with a 26" barrel. I shot a moose at a little over 150yds, it walked 20ft, and lay down for pick up and delivery to the meat cutter. This load closely duplicates the group I was getting with Federal's Premium Safari line with a 250gr Nosler partition. I liked the performance, but disliked the brass, because is nickel plated, so I decided to roll my own. Good luck.
