338 Winchester - 250 grain Ammo

Listmates,

I am looking for some fast 250 grain factory ammo - any suggestions?

Hunting Big Bear at end of August :)

Paul

Id second the suggestion of the Federal Premium 250 Nosler load, should do well on anything in North America.

Buy at least four boxes and spend at least three on practise!

250 gr. bullets sure seem to work well in the .338, but like some of the other guys already mentioned, go with what shoots good in your rifle and don't worry about speed or muzzle energy. If you shoot Yogi where you're supposed to with a .338, he's going down.

If you have someone to reload for you I just happen to have a few boxes of Woodleigh Weldcore 250gr RN SN... Impact velocity 1800-2500fps, serious bear medicine.
A compressed load of H 4831 and your in business.

I'll Thirdsie that too.
The Factory Federal 250 Partitions shot extremely well in my 338 and I'd suspect nothing would want that 250 Nosler pointed thier way ;)

I shot my spring bear this year with .338wm, Fed safari grade 250gr nosler partition. (Had some laying around from when I got the rifle).

Shot was uphill, 260m, no wind. Placed the round just forward of left front shoulder. Round went through both lungs and out the other side. Exit wound hardly larger than entrance wound. Bullet never recovered.

Bear just shy of 400lbs.

One happy hunter!

338

I hunt moose every year in nfld. I have shot just about every load in my 338 noslers, boat tails , safari.etc For me, my model 700 prefers winchesters accubond in 225gr. If you compare winchesters ammo site and remingtons ammo site the ballistics speak for them selves.
