Having recently moved from Vancouver to Merritt BC. i drove the 16k to the local range, no traffic, and no one at the range. It was great.

The rifle i was breaking in was a Tikka hunter 338 federal shooting 200 gr Federal Fusion, they chronoed at 2653-2692 a few of the rounds had slight resistance to chambering and one couldnt be chambered, this is factury ammo. I dont know if this is a tight chamber or ammo problem, has any else had this problem?

I did the clean and shoot routine for 20 rounds and tried the last rounds for group. The first 2 rounds were .5 and then i got flyers making both groups 1.5 that was me im sure.

The recoil is more than my 7mm mag and on a par with my308norma mag this is due to the light weight of the Tikka, it wont be a problem when shooting at game. This shouldnt be a surprise when my 308 norma with 200gr noslers and 69gr of imr 4350 clocks2789. This cartridge is a hard hitter.

It sesms if there is an issue with Tikkas, it's with feeding them factory ammo. I've heard of dozens of cases like yours in a wide variety of calibres. I doubt it's the ammo.

Hmmm, I seem to recall them being quoted as a great gun for the money.:D
Sorry TJ, couldn't resist.

When you've heard of dozens of cases that doesn't seem so good. Ike won't be happy about mixing Euro guns into his fence made of 710s.

Are the chambers tight or short throated?

Not sure what the issue is Noel but as I said, if there's a problem with a Tikka, that seems to be the most common. For more carefully sized ammo like handloads or premium factory ammo, it doesn't seem to be an issue.

200 gr Fusions clock @ 2670 f/s avg in my Sako 85. I've shot two boxes of them and haven't had any chambering issues. Enjoy your 338F!
