so my 338LM barrel has finally showed up so once I get it broken in, I'm going to start accumulating components. I'm pretty much set on H1000 powder, and I want to try out the 285 Hornady ELD-M's. I've got some CCI magnum primers (they serve double duty with my 300WM loads), the only thing I'm not set on, it brass....

In the 308 world, Lapua is pretty much king. Sadly, Lapua doesn't make belted cases, so I can't use them for my 300WM, but is it safe to assume they make some of the best 338LM brass? Surprisingly, I'm finding hornady brass to be comparatively priced, is the quality comparable? What direction did you guys go with brass? My searches haven't found very much for me :(

Lapua and Norma are likely the best out of the box brass you can buy.

PRVI is the value option and it is substantially less money and quite durable. I do basic brass prep and it has served me well in competition and LR shooting.

Hrn and Nosler fall in between... Nosler is offering a number of chamberings in no frills packaging and dropping the price alot. So far, no complaints.

If I can help, send me a PM or email.

sounds Like Lapua is going to be the way to go... I kinda suspected that would be the case, but it is nice to see my belief's confirmed.

I had Hornaday brass and Norma for my 338 Lapua AI and Norma was good Hornaday not so much. I recently bought a bunch of lapua brass and I will never buy anything else.

It's a big expense up front but if you have a Lapua mag then cost shouldn't be an issue.

You can find some good deals on new and used brass on the ee here.

It's actually not a greater expense up front on many chamberings.

Extend the brass life by quality, it goes down.

Have to select the quantities on the Cabelas site. There is no practical reason I can see to go with anything other aside from availability.

Nosler is offering a number of chamberings in no frills packaging and dropping the price a lot- jerry what do you mean with this? all the nosler I see is expensive. more so than lapua.

The issue with Nosler brass I have, is you never know who made the brass. Sometimes you get lucky and get Norma, sometimes you get "who knows". Prepped "Fed/Win/Rem/whatever" brass is not worth $2/each IMHO.
