338wm

Interestingly enough I was using 210 grain partitions over H4831 and am now moving to a mono bullet. I have in my possession 185 Gr CX bullets and am trying to procure some 210 TTSX. I have also some Ramshot Big Game powder which look a like a winner for both bullets. Time will tell. Alternately I may try H4831, H4350 or RL 19. All great powders for those bullets.

I have had a couple of 338 WMs over the years.
Used the Federal Premium 210 gr Nosler Partition ammo (1.1" groups) for all my game with great results.
The first rifle also shot the Federal blue box 225 gr ammo very well (0.9"), but never used it on game as it was about the time that my shoulders were having issues and sold the 338 Wm and built my 338-06.

My best handloads for the first rifle (LH Rem 700 BDL) was 39.0 gr pf IMR 4831 with the 225 gr Hdy Interlock and 74.0 gr of Re-19 with the 225 gr AccuBond.
Never got around to loading for the LH Sako AV.

I like the 338WM. RL 17 and the 205 Hammer work well. The 338WM can preform well with shorter barrels so I would do some research on barrel length. I like mine at 21".

OK all great info. I went to the range and tested all possible loads with the 210 partition and reloader 19. i went from bottom load of 72 gr to .5 above of 76.5.
all loads were 1 inch with 75.5 being 3/4inch.
i found this powder to be slow. max charge was 2823 fps. min was 2630..
basically 200fps below book. almost wondering if theres an issue with my powder..

My Sako pushs 225gr Accubonds at 2750. It's both accurate and close enough to the 2800. I'm using N-560. Well, a 338 is a flat shooting round, same as a 30-06, moose are shot in close. So close that you can almost pinch their bum to see if they are tender. Your 2630 will work fine. I mostly use a 338-06, at 2650, again 225gr.

But you can come across rifles that are slow. Your chrony have a low number and your primers will fall out.

That is slow. In my 338 Ruger 77, 24 inch barrel, RL19 used to push the 210's right around 2900 fps. - dan

There is no such a thing as a fast barrel, you just have more pressure that all. Slow barrels on the other hand are real. As you come up to the target velocity, say 2700 with a 180gr cup and core bullet in 30-06 , you pop a primer at 2600. Well that's not likely in a 30-06, but I have seen that in a 264WM. A new barrel with a custom chamberig cured that. Why ? a tight bore has been suggested but other things got mentioned as well.

I have a small stash of 4350 I bought as a crossover powder for 8x57 jrs and 338 wm.

I have never tried it because I have generally leaned on h4831 as my powder of choice for 250, 275 and 300 grain bullets. I've used varget to very mixed results with 200 and 225 grain loads. Probably too fast a powder but I had it on hand for lighter clamberings

I would make suspect chrono error before powder problems. Eliminate that first.
you will like your new 338 WM. Sounds like you have already developed a nice comfort level shooting it. .75 MOA well done.
good luck
