Just made it home after a long drive TIRED to say the least.
On behalf of Len Andre , Folkie Johnson, Sandy Newman and myself {Jim Strelioff}, I would like to say THANK YOU to all the Burns Lake 1000yd shoot organizers and support personell.

As usual the effort made by all involved was flawless and well received by all that attended the shoot. Thanks for greeting us as old friends and the hospitality extended was greatly appreciated.
We will be back next year!:dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

I was pretty disappointed that I didn't make it this year (&*%$# rifle is still at the gunsmith ) I'm defnitely going to make a concentrated effort to make it next year.

Good that you made it home safe Jim. Was good to see you and your friends could make it. Should you or anyone else find your way down here this summer bring a shooting iron and we will do some long range shooting.

I would also like to congratulate the Tweedsmuir Park R&G Club for the fine shoot. I have been attending this 1000 yard match for about 25 yeras now, and it has really improved over the years. It would be good to see more out-of-town folks there.......Kudus to the contingent that travelled all the way from Whitehorse to compete. Bevan King was there, and I found him a very personable and knowledgeable fellow to talk to. It's a great place to swap info and to tap into some good experience. Some very impressive heavy guns there, and some very good shooting sporters as well. Regards, Eagleye.

I've got some pics I'll post from the shoot. I could have put some up now but I got a virus message about photobucket so I'll have to wait and resize the pics before I can post them. Terry, I've got pics of the snipers of the Houston Junta who by my count won 3 of the events, perhaps you'll be able to help indentify them?

The shoot was a great event very well organized by the Burns Lake rifle club. Some families had 3 generations of shooters there. Both the Saturday night diner and the Sunday morning breakfast were much better than I thought they'd be. I wasn't able to eat a large breakfast because I was still somewhat bloated from the previous night's diner. There was good basic food at very reasonable prices available all day both days so unless a shooter had special needs food wise there was no need to leave the shoot.

We had a good group of Shooters from Whitehorse at the shoot. I was fortunate enough to talk at length with some of them. Basically small town BC was well represented at the shoot notably missing were Lower Mainland shooters who are in Province and 4 hours closer than Whitehorse.

I was able to get around a bit and talk with some shooters there I hadn't met before and it was a delight to see the kind of knowledge the people who attended this shoot have. Having moved to Burns Lake recently I've been pleasantly surprised how friendly and curteous the people are. The spirit of co-operation needed to make an event like this happen reminds me more what Canada was like 50 years ago where family values were important and hunting and shooting were a part of life. Personally I think it's the anti-gun crowd who are nutz, and with events like this one becoming more common perhaps it isn't too late to save Canada?:)

Here's a pic looking toward the shooting shack from the lower parking lot. On the right you can see part of a wall-tent that was set-up. there was alot more room for camping and firewood was cut and stacked for use by campers

Here's a couple of the people who helped in the kitchen, I wish I could have gotten a pic of everyone as the daily food and the diner and breakfast were all very well done.

From the previous pic you can see how clean the kitchen is. Here I've included the menu of the food available during the shoot and the cost of the diner and breakfast. Of the daily food I had a couple 1,000 yarders and a couple smokies and I recommend them both. As mention before the diner and breakfast, a full normal breafast not just pancakes, were both excellent. In my estimation all of this food were you to buy it in a restuarant would cost 50% more and you'd have to drive there and back. I should also mention coffee was free

Here's a pic from position#1 looking back out of the shooting-shack. The 3 people in the glass both are keeping track of the scores while there's a Range Officer and Assistant as well as the people down range checking the targets. I know some of these people were also shooters. I would guess that there were at least 2 dozen people staffing the event and helping with set-up and take-down.

Ok, since I'm replying to Terry's post, I'll leave it to him to name these shooters from the Houston Junta if he so chooses. This sniper set a new Club Record of a 5 shot group of 3 1/8" @ 1,000 yards in the Men's Heavy. He was the only shooter to win 2 events the second being the Low Aggregate Score. I'm thinking maybe he should hold a title something like: The Earl of the Lakes Dsitrict 1,000 yard shoot? Also,

I heard a rumor that he shot at least some of these events with another shooters rifle. I'm wondering if Terry knows anything about this?

Here's the sniper from the Houston Junta who won the Unlimited Class. Terry what are you feeding these guys or is it in the water? Do you want to tell us who he is?
