New to the site but am searching for some knowledge
I have been given my grandfathers 340 Savage 222 it has a older weaver detachable side mount
I wanted to upgrade the old scope and purchased a nice Nikon Prostaff
I now realize it wont fit the scope mount is far too low plus the scope has that center bump that interferes with the mount
Is there a taller upper mount that was produced by Weaver I looked at their site and cant seen to determine if the mounts there are higher or not
anyone out there have any ideas ?

It's been a few years since i've looked into the 340 scope mounts, but from memory I know there was the old 1 piece weaver mount, which is what i assume you've got.

There were some two piece mounts where the plate would bolt on the the gun and they had a big curved set of rings that would attach. I thought weaver had a style like this and williams gunsights had aversion.

The newest style was a one piece side mount that had a picatinny rail on top that let you use any rings you like. The original as far as i know was made by Bsquare but i think there's a Sun Optics version as well and likely a few other EBay knock offs by now.

I don't know about availability in canada right now, but the Bsquare is the smallest/most user friendly of the bunch if you can find one.
