340 weatherby

I use the 340 brass and ususally last for around the 5 times of reloading. Usually use the higher number reloaded brass for target and the newer ones for hunting. Personnal load is a 250 gr hornady interlock or a partition with 88g AA3100 powder for velocity of 2950 fps ave. out of a sako with a 24" barrel.

The weatherby line of cartridges are probably the best to reload for from a cost saving standpoint as loaded factory ammo is much more expensive then other makes, but costs are similar to reg. cartridges when reloaded.

Got a 340 accumark just before moose hunting a few months ago. Didnt have time to test many loads. Ended up using 210 barnes ttsx (great ballistic coeff) and relaoder 19. Used weatherby factory brass.

Very accurate and flat shooting. Will work on finding the best load next spring

great round !

Dave:

To cut cost on the brass, buy some Remington .300 Weatherby brass, run it through the .340 full length die and there you have it .340 brass at a fraction the cost of Weatherby brass!!

I have used this brass when I shot a .340 and it worked very well for all my hunting applications I put the gun through!!

But remember that Weatherby brass is manufactured by Norma, and the quality is very good. Nosler also makes .300 Weatherby brass if I recall correctly!!! this may be a better way to go from the quality standpoint.

In this caliber I found the 250 Barnes TSX and Rl-22 and 25 to be outstanding!! I still load for that rifle (sold to a buddy) and 50 rounds last him a long time when all he uses is 1 round per animal!!!

Good luck
