35 brown/whelen

Thanks Dan!
do you know if there is any interest in these guns as for sale?

It is built on an P14 action the barrel is original rebored to .35 i also have the dies and some brass
any info ...Thanks

Well, I'm sure one of the 35 fans out there would like it. I've had a few 35 Whelens, one B/W, and one AI version. The AI version didn't gain me much in terms of bullet speed, but the B/W version picked up about 100 fps with 250 gr bullets, if memory serves. Pretty much put it on a par with the 338 Win Mag, great hunting rifle. If you had to custom order the dies today, I'd guess they would probably be worth almost as much as the rifle. Send (danbelisled@netscape.net) or post a pic or two, I seem to be talking myself into yet another rifle. - dan

LOL

Ok I'll take some pics for you
the only thing I don't like about the gun is the sporterized military stock
I thought about re-stocking it but ......Naa

OK, took me a while to find my old binders. 35 Brown/Whelen, 250 gr Speer, reformed Rem 30-06 cases, 70 gr of IMR 4350, chrono'ed at 2690 fps. from a 24" barrel. I believe that I got the load data from Ackley's books, but that's just a vague memory at this point. - dan

Ackley's Handbook page 173 shows the following loads for the 35 Brown-Whelen;

220 gr. 70 gr. 4320 powder 2900fps
250 gr. 71 gr. 4350 powder 2700fps
300 gr. 68 gr. 4350 powder 2525fps

It's a good big game getter for sure!
